Research Activity:

Study of mutagenic properties of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) and their derivatives, focusing especially on cyclocyclopentaphenanthrenes, using two short therm tests: Salmonella (Ames) test and Micronucleus (MN) (V79 Chinese hamster lung fibroblasts) test.

Interested in investigating interaction of cyclopentaphenanthrenes with DNA; mechanisms of reaction (graphic presentation) especially metabolites obtained after metabolic activation of investigated compounds. Identification of metabolites using HPLC and Mass Spectrometry.

Also concerned in Fluorescent in situ Hybrydisation for visualization of micronuclei in cells, for better understanding of PAH genotoxicity effect, whether they act like clastogenic or aneugenic toxicants.
